Sandra “Sandy” Diane Bacon Clark peacefully passed away at her home on October 31, 2024, at the age of 81, surrounded by her family in the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Sandra was born on September 25, 1943, in Savannah, GA to the late Reginald Legrande Bacon and Christine Bragg (Durden). Sandra was raised in Savannah and embodied the spirit of her hometown with her warm and light-hearted personality. She took great pride in her career at Build-A-Rama and Contractor Specialty Supply. In the early 90s, she relocated to Statesboro, GA to be closer to her son and grandchildren, where she owned and managed rental properties with her late husband.
A true matriarch, Sandra’s passion for cooking brought everyone together around the dinner table, where her delicious meals and infectious laughter created cherished memories. She was an avid lover of country music and dancing, playing cards, and shopping. She had a unique ability to light up any room with her enthusiasm, turning friendly gatherings into lively celebrations. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph David “J.D. Clark”, her son, Jacky “Jimbo” Clinton Waters Jr., and her sister, Faye Kicklighter (Harry).
She is survived by her grandchildren, Amber Waters, Andrew Waters (Melissa), Kristy Tyler, Seth Tate (Heather), her great-grandchildren, Jackson Brannen, Ian Brannen, Madilyn Tate, Maddox Tate, Ella Tate, and Jack Tate, her sister, Gail Wainwright, her brother, Marvin Bacon, daughter-in-law, Michele Waters, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Andrew Waters, Bobby Layne, Thomas Lariscy, Bill Bragg, Charlie Crowley, Glenn Crowley and Jordan Miller. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Ulmer, Harry Kicklighter Jr., Gary Lewers, Dennis Lee and Ray Phillips.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jody Bryant officiating.
Graveside services and burial will be at 3:00pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Savannah.
