Michael Andrew “Andy” Mathis, 51, of Sylvania passed Tuesday morning, July 18, 2023 at his residence under the care of Regency Hospice.
Andy was born in Langley Air Force Base and was a graduate of Bloomingdale High School, having lettered in swimming. He attended the University of Tampa and received his bachelors of arts in Business Management from the University of South Florida. He was employed with Xerox, a pharmaceutical representative with Pfizer, and lastly as a flood hazard specialist with FEMA. He enjoyed hunting with his brother and was an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Dennis Mathis, and step-father, Jerry Thompson.
Survivors include his mother, Pamela Elizabeth Head Thompson of Sylvania; brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Stacy Mathis of Newington; step-sisters and spouse, April and Randall Mew of Lake Placid, FL and Dawn Thompson of Seffner, FL; nieces and nephews, Kaitlynn and Kenny, Evan and Bailey, Colson, and Sarah; great-nieces, Harper, and Miranda.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
