Jerry Lee Brunson

November 29, 1940 — June 12, 2025

Jerry Lee Brunson was born November 29, 1940, in Register Georgia to the late Willis “Cooter” and Willie Bell Summerlin Brunson. He attended the public schools of Bulloch County and was a graduate of William James High School class of 1959.

Jerry married Lula Belle Hills (Tiger) on April 16, 1962, in Bulloch County Georgia and they moved to New Rochelle NY where their children Gregory and Wayne were born.

Jerry worked as a truck driver for his entire working career beginning and ending with Rhino Trucking for over 37 years, missing only one sick day during his entire career. He was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the NY Yankees and the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry and his brothers played in recreational baseball leagues starting in Georgia and ending in leagues in Yonkers.

Jerry will be remembered by most as a kind and gentle soul, who would give anyone the shirt right off his back and he never hesitated to assist his extended family when asked.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, the angel of mercy entered his residence in Virginia Beach, Va. and ushered him home to be with the Lord.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children Gregory Brunson Sr (Monique) of Meriden CT and Wayne “Vinny” Brunson (Tanya) of Virginia Beach VA; grandchildren, Gregory “AJ” Brunson Jr., Briana Coon, Daija Brunson, Marquise Brunson and Che Brunson along with 1 great grand child Asyah Prince Brunson “pop-pop”; his surviving siblings Willie Edward Brinson, White Plains, N.Y .and Marilyn Brunson and Ronnie Brunson both Statesboro, Ga. a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of  life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the New Bethelhem Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Germain Williams, Officiating. Interment will be in the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
