Mr. Glenn O. Jones, of Sylvania, GA, passed away on July 31, 2023.
The Sylvania native was born to Sophie Oliver Jones and the late James Allen Jones.
He attended North Georgia College, Georgia Southern and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. From 1968 to the mid-eighties, he operated Jones Chrysler Plymouth, and later worked as a shift manager at Sylvania Yarn Systems, formerly BASF, until his retirement. Even in retirement he continued to work part time, as a handy man at AMI Kids and doing farm work at Longwood Plantation.
He loved spending time at Lake Sinclair at his lake house, boating, fishing, finding yard sales and watching his grands play ball.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sylvania, and during his membership served in many capacities, most recently as a member of the Board of Trustees.
He was also a former member of the Sylvania Lions Club and United States Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Becky Konkle Jones of Sylvania, children, Cynthia (Duane) Bargeron of Girard, and Andy (Hays) Jones of Sylvania, grandchildren, Browning (Mary Kate) Bargeron, Logan Bargeron, Drew Carroll, Carson Carroll, Gee Gee (John William Pollock) Beasley, Sarah Beasley, and Emma Jones, his mother, Sophie Jones of Sylvania, and a sister, Joni Jones (Ray) Thompson of Sylvania.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, August 2nd, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 3rd, at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church of Sylvania with Rev. Dorsia Atkinson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Royal, Joe Landrum, Rip Campbell, Harold Lee, Mark Tanner, and John William Pollock.
