Mr. Gary Dennis McCorkle, age 73, died on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his home under the care of Bridge Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School and Swainsboro Tech with an automotive technician degree. Gary worked as a carpenter for over 40 years and retired from Pope Construction after 20 years as a Construction Superintendent. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Conrad McCorkle and Wauwesse Hodges McCorkle, and a brother Jimmy McCorkle.
Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Jeannie Peters McCorkle; a son Gary Chadwick (Tanya) McCorkle of Register; two daughters Heidi M. (Dale) Shaw of Nevils and Skie M. (Joe) Hollingsworth of Statesboro; six grandchildren Noah McCorkle, Kathryn McCorkle, Mattilyn Shaw, Sawyer Shaw, Eli Hollingsworth and Molly Hollingsworth. One great granddaughter Adeline McCorkle. A sister-in-law Jill (Fred) Beverly of Talbotton, GA; a brother-in-law Charles Peters of Rutledge, GA. and his dog, Izzy.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
A graveside funeral and burial will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Eastside Cemetery.
