February 14, 1944 - March 11, 2024
Cecile Hagans Boulineau went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Cecile was born on February 14, 1944, a Valentine baby for her parents Avis and Cecil Hagans. She was a lifetime resident of Statesboro and Bulloch County, living in Grove Lakes most of her adult life. She was a 1962 graduate of Statesboro High School. After several years of courting, she married the love of her life, Eddie Boulineau in 1969. A year later, they had a beautiful daughter Lori.
Cecile worked for 20 years as a legal secretary to Francis Allen at Allen, Brown, Wright and Edenfield. She then took a short time off before beginning her next 20 years at Bulloch Telephone, where she became Officer Manager. She enjoyed flowers, singing, and reading, but most of all she enjoyed doing for others.
Cecile was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to many, but above all she loved God. She was a faithful member of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church where she served others and taught a Bible study class.
As a deacon’s wife, Cecile prepared the unleavened bread for communion at church for many years. She also led the Bereavement Committee, was a member of the Emmaus community and was the liaison for the Silver Living Club. She was a recipient of the Dean Day Smith award honoring her giving to others in the community. To those who knew her well, she was known as the “butterfly lady” as she wore clothes and jewelry with butterflies.
In the last year of her life, she lived at Southern Manor where she received great love and care.
Cecile was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Avis Hagans. She is survived by her beloved husband, Edward C. Boulineau, daughter Lori (Greg) Whitson, and two beautiful granddaughters Madison and Ansley Whitson of Bluffton, SC. Cecile is also survived by her sister Judy (Gerald) Williams, sister-in-law, Myra (Jerry) Brantley, and brother-in-law, George (Marta) Boulineau, as well as nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank all the staff at Southern Manor for their wonderful care of Cecile, and a special thanks to Ralph Cowart, Kristy Shewan, and Glenda Sheffield, who were instrumental in caring for her during the final months. We would also like to thank Jan Johnson of Regency Hospice of Statesboro and their staff.
Services will be Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church starting with the receiving of friends at 10:00am in the fellowship hall and the funeral service at 11:00am in the sanctuary. Elder Randy Waters and Elder Bill Durrence will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Lee Banks, Ryan McNeal, Tim Anderson, Ralph Cowart, Chase Hutchens, and Jackie Brannen.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please consider a donation in Cecile’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org/ or to the Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church, 4 S. Zetterower Ave., Statesboro, GA 30458.
