The Lambda Pi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is hosting its annual Youth Symposium and Swim1922 event.

The events are for youth ages 12 to 18 and will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Luetta Moore Park, which is located at 585 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Statesboro.

The annual Youth Symposium is designed to highlight some of the prevalent concerns that impact youth such as drugs, low self-esteem, suicide, financial literacy, human trafficking and more.

Swim1922 is a water safety event that is part of the national partnership between Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated and USA Swimming. USA Swimming is the national governing body for competitive swimming in the U.S., including the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team.

Swim1922 is designed to strengthen USA Swimming's commitment to diversity and inclusion. It seeks to remove barriers, increase access and exposure, increase swim participation and decrease drowning rates.

The event includes lunch plus guest speakers, vendors and community partners who want to positively impact the lives of youth in our community and area. Parents and guardians may register their children online here.
