With so many events happening this weekend, it is difficult to only pick a few to share. As usual, there is something for everyone to do this weekend!

Here are a few of my top picks for Veteran's Day weekend:

Backyard Boogie

Join Alpha Delta Pi sorority and Kappa Sigma fraternity Friday November 10th at 5:00 pm for a philanthropic Backyard Boogie! Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Sigma are hosting this fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House and Veterans Moving Forward. The Ronald McDonald House Charities focus on helping the families of hospitalized children around the globe. Veterans Moving Forward is a non-profit providing veterans with service dogs and canine therapy services to help with physical and/or mental health difficulties. The Backyard Boogie is full of activities including live music, a trunk show and a silent auction. This event is free and open to the public. Food tickets are available for $8.

The Malpass Brothers

Christopher and Taylor Malpass have spent their entire life surrounded by music. Now, the Malpass Brothers make their own while paying tribute to country music legends of the past. If you love a classic country tune, this show is just right for you. You'll find these country boys taking stage at the Emma Kelly Theater Friday, November 10th at 7:30 pm. General Admission is $35. Tickets are also available online.

Karaoke with KJ Barefoot

Interested in live music but want to sing yourself? Head out to the Statesboro Moose Lodge 1089 on Friday night, November 10th, for Karaoke with KJ Barefoot. The Moose Lodge is a chapter within the greater Moose Charities, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the young and the elderly. This event begins at 8:00 pm and costs $3 to attend. This is also a recurring event taking place on Fridays at the Moose Lodge.

Veterans Day Program

Saturday is Veteran's Day; a day for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The Averitt Center for the Arts will be hosting their annual Veteran's Day Program. The Portal Middle High School will preform at 9:45 am outside of the Averitt Center. The inside program will begin at 10:30 am and will include Ken Yasger as the keynote speaker. This event is free to attend. There will be a free picnic lunch after the program at Post 90 (100 Rucker Lane).
