VIDEO: Statesboro Restaurant Heavily Damaged by Fire

A popular Statesboro restaurant was heavily damaged by fire early Tuesday morning, April 16, 2024.

Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an alarm at The Saucy Shrimp located at 12218 South 301 just outside the City of Statesboro around 2:16 AM.

When Deputies arrived they reported seeing smoke in the building and requested Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments to the restaurant.

The first Statesboro Fire engine on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the building and requested additional engines and firefighters to help battle the fire.  Within minutes of the first engine arriving, heavy fire was visible from the front dining room windows.

Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, but the progression of the fire made the attack very challenging.

The restaurant received significant damage.

Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments were on the scene for hours making sure all of the hot spots were extinguished.

Bulloch County EMS responded as a precaution, but there were no injuries reported.

Statesboro Fire Investigators will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation.
