Fire destroys home on Burkhalter Road; no injuries reported

Firefighters in Bulloch County extinguished a significant house fire on Burkhalter Road late Monday night, however, the home was a total loss. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

A single-wide manufactured home in the 8600 block of Burkhalter Road was completely destroyed by a fire that broke out late Monday night.

Bulloch County 911 received a call reporting the fire around 11:00 PM on Monday, July 14, 2025 and immediately dispatched the Bulloch County Fire Department. Fire Engine 16 was the first to arrive on the scene, reporting heavy flames engulfing the residence.

Due to the intensity of the fire, firefighters requested additional support, including more engines and tankers, to assist in battling the blaze. Firefighters launched an aggressive attack on the fire and conducted a thorough search of the home, thankfully finding no occupants inside.

Crews remained on site for several hours, working diligently to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. This included a process known as overhauling, where firefighters meticulously search for and extinguish any remaining embers or smoldering materials to prevent the fire from reigniting. This step is also crucial for preserving potential evidence for any subsequent investigation.

Bulloch County Fire Investigators will be conducting a routine investigation to determine the fire's origin and cause. Bulloch County EMS and Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputies also responded to the scene to provide assistance.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. However, the home is considered a total loss.

This incident serves as a reminder for residents to ensure they have working smoke detectors in their homes and to practice fire safety measures.
