Video | Early morning fire destroys Statesboro home

Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Bobby Donaldson Avenue early Wednesday morning. The home was heavily involved with fire when the first engine arrived on the scene.

Statesboro and Bulloch Fire Departments responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Bobby Donaldson Avenue early Wednesday morning. The home was heavily involved with fire when the first engine arrived on the scene.

The home was heavily involved when the first firefighters arrived

Bulloch County 911 operators dispatched the call at 12:40 am on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. According to their dispatch the fire was reported by multiple neighbors who reported flames and heavy smoke was visible in the initial calls.

The first engine was on the scene in less than two minutes and confirmed the wooden structure, a single story home, was heavily involved with fire. The firefighters requested additional equipment and firefighters to the scene. They also reported that everyone was out of the home safely.

Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the early morning fire, but it was too far advanced to save much of the structure.

Bulloch County American Red Cross Disaster Team members are working to provide immediate assistance to the resident of the home.

Bulloch County EMS responded as a precaution.

Statesboro Police Department officers also responded to assist with traffic and crowd control.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. Statesboro fire investigators were on the scene and will conduct a routine cause and origin investigation.
