Traffic shift advisory for the US 280 widening project

Heads up, drivers — big changes are coming to the US 280 and I-16 westbound roundabout this weekend as GDOT kicks off a major traffic shift to keep construction rolling on one of Bryan County’s biggest road upgrades.

Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors will be shifting traffic into a temporary configuration on US 280/State Route (SR) 30 at the I-16 westbound roundabout. These construction activities will require flagging and pacing in the area. Officers will be onsite to assist. Once the shift is completed, drivers will be in a single-lane configuration at the outside of the roundabout in order for the contractor to work on the inside of the roundabout.

The US 280 Widening project is part of the larger US 280, I-16 Frontage, and Old Cuyler Road Interchange Improvement projects that will provide more efficient access to new developments in Bryan County. The improvement projects include roadway widening, construction of roundabouts, a new frontage road along I-16, and a new location interchange on I-16.
