In preparation for the shift, contractors will have lane closures with flagging operations 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., Thursday February 22 and 7 p.m. until shift opening Friday, February 23. The contractor’s schedule is subject to change due to weather and other factors.

Eastbound traffic traveling on US 80 widening project will be shifted beside westbound travel lanes closing all turn lanes. Stiles Avenue access for US 80 east and west bound traffic will be located at the current Stiles Avenue off-ramp signalized intersection. The Stiles Avenue on-ramp will be closed permanently.

Motorists traveling through this work zone should expect major delays as contractors facilitate the traffic shift. Motorists are encouraged to watch for additional directional signs and obey flaggers as they proceed through the construction zone.  If possible, motorists are strongly urged to use alternate routes.

The investment in widening of US 80 in Savannah continues to show the department’s commitment to increasing safety and efficiency for Georgia’s travelling public. This major highway improvement will make a real difference for Savannah’s residents and visitors.
