The Camilla Foundation, a local nonprofit dedicated to providing free counseling services to youth in Bulloch County, will host its 2nd Annual Pathway to Healing fundraising event on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at The Botanic Garden at Georgia Southern University, located at 1503 Bland Avenue in Statesboro.
Titled “Pathway to Healing: A Day to Support Mental Health Awareness,” this special event is open to the public and aims to raise awareness and funds for youth mental health services in the community.
The Camilla Foundation was founded to bridge the gap in mental health access for children who were not being served due to barriers such as lack of transportation or financial resources. Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist April Miller created the organization to ensure that every child in need can receive care, regardless of their circumstances.
“We provide counseling services for children ages 2 to 17 in Bulloch County, and primarily work through referrals from other nonprofits,” explains Charlene Lamar, Ed.D. “It’s truly special work.”
The Pathway to Healing fundraiser has become a signature event for the organization, helping to support its mission and continued outreach.
“Tuesday night is about sharing who we are, how we got here, and why this work matters—while raising funds to keep it going,” says Dr. Lamar.
