After a decade helping South Auction become a regional powerhouse, Alex Grovenstein is stepping into a new chapter with the launch of Longleaf Solutions, his own auction company focused on business assets, special collections, and personal property across the Southeast.
Community Roots and Family
Beyond the auction floor, Alex has deep ties to the Statesboro community. As an active member of the Statesboro Kiwanis Club, he's been instrumental in the organization's poultry project, helping youth develop responsibility and agricultural knowledge. His commitment to mentoring extends to his years of dedicated service with the Boy Scouts, where he's helped shape the character of countless young men.
Faith plays a central role in Alex's life as an active member of Brooklet Community Church, where his service and commitment reflect the values that guide both his personal and professional decisions.
At home, Alex finds his greatest support system in his wife Angela and their two sons, Davis and Murphy. Alex is creating a family legacy that has become an increasingly important part of his vision for Longleaf Solutions.
The South Auction Foundation
Ten years ago, Alex met Rusty Lane through a mutual friend while exploring the auction business. After obtaining his license, Alex took a leap of faith, leaving his secure job to pursue his passion. What began as managing occasional personal property auctions for South Auction evolved into a pivotal role, with Alex handling all aspects of the personal property division while Rusty's team focused on real estate.
"Alex is extremely driven, extremely smart, extremely loyal, and extremely honest," Rusty notes, calling the decision to bring Alex aboard "one of the best decisions I have ever made."

The Vision Takes Root
Even while building South Auction's success, Alex harbored entrepreneurial dreams. The vision for Longleaf Solutions first emerged during his training at the Certified Auctioneers Institute in Indiana. Like the resilient longleaf pine native to the Southeast, Alex wanted to create something with deep roots and lasting impact.
"The fire that has been burning inside me for the last decade to create a brand, mission, vision, and unique experience never went away," Alex shares. After years of prayer and planning, he and his wife Angela determined that the time was finally right to take the next step.
Building a Legacy
With his sons approaching college age, Alex purchased a building at 808 South Main Street in Statesboro to house Longleaf Solutions. The name reflects his commitment to providing comprehensive auction services built on integrity and exceptional client experiences.
"We wish him the best," says the South Auction team, who remain among Alex's biggest supporters. "Whatever he does, he will do it RIGHT!"
The Journey Continues
One tradition that friends and community members hope will continue despite the business transition: Alex's annual hosting of the Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake Eating World Championship during the Christmas season, a beloved local event that showcases his commitment to bringing people together with the same enthusiasm he brings to the auction floor.

The company website (www.Longleaf.Solutions) is live, and social media presence is growing. For Alex, this venture represents more than business success—it's about creating a potential legacy his sons might join after college and honoring his faith through service.
"We trust His judgment and look forward to glorifying Him through this venture," Alex says of the divine guidance that led to this decision.
The #AuctionAlex brand continues, but now with a new vision as the hammer falls on the first chapter of Longleaf Solutions.
