The 13th Annual Tasting Statesboro: The United Way welcomed a packed house at The Foxhall on Thursday evening, August 17. With a room full of local food and beverage vendors, guests sampled a wide variety of delicious dishes and drinks while raising money for local charities.
"I’m very excited about the successful fundraiser. I was a little nervous with a different venue but overjoyed at the turnout," Carey Cassedy, United Way of Southeast Georgia Executive Director, said. "It’s definitely a win-win-win! Attendees love it because they are able to dine at over 30 food vendors all under the same roof, the vendors get the opportunity to share their food with others that may not otherwise walk through their doors, and ultimately United Way wins because we raise funds to support our goal of impacting our focus areas of Education, Health, and Financial Stability for local friends and neighbors."
The sold out event raised $39,070 -- a record amount for our local United Way partner agencies. The funds will stay in Statesboro and Bulloch County to benefit Action Pact, the American Red Cross, The Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County, Bulloch Med Connection, Child Advocacy Services SEGA, the Statesboro Food Bank, the Hearts & Hands Clinic, Homebound Services, Lift As You Grow, Prevent Child Abuse, Safe Haven/Citizens Against Violence, The Salvation Army, and WE Move Tutoring Group.
"We are so very grateful for our vendors, sponsors, attendees, and volunteers," Cassedy added. "This year’s Tasting Statesboro was a banner year!"
