A 22-year-old Swainsboro resident has been arrested for aggravated assault after allegedly firing a handgun at his girlfriend and her father.

Statesboro Police Department (SPD) patrol officers responded to a call for domestic dispute at approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 6 after shots were fired at the Southern Villas on Chandler Road.

After a brief investigation, officers determined that a suspect had fired shots from a handgun at his girlfriend and her father. He then fled the complex on foot.

No injuries were reported but officers did note damage to two apartment units from the gunfire.

Shamar Littles (22) of Swainsboro was identified as the suspect and officers conducted an extensive search of the area. Detectives later issued an arrest warrant for Littles for aggravated assault.

Littles was located and arrested in Swainsboro on Jan. 9. He has since been transported back to the Bulloch County Jail for processing. He remains at the jail pending further judicial action.

SPD would like to thank the Swainsboro Police Department and the Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
