Born July 16, 1922 in Statesboro, Georgia, Martha Wilma “Willie” Simmons Coleman is celebrating an incredible 103 years of life! She enjoyed her special day at Willow Pond Senior Care, surrounded by friends and loved ones.
Witty, ambitious, and determined, Willie still brings joy and wisdom to everyone around her. She jokes that “some days she feels 399, and others she feels 55.”
Willie married the love of her life, Grover Cleveland “G.C.” Coleman, in 1943. Together, they raised 3 children. Today, her legacy includes 6 grandchildren and at least 4 great-grandchildren.

Willie and G.C. shared a passion for travel, including Pebble Beach in Carmel and the San Diego Zoo. Willie still enjoys the beach, especially Ponte Vedra, and a meal of shrimp salad at The Oasis. Without a doubt, her favorite pastime is Bingo at Willow Pond. When we talked to her on her 102nd birthday, she attributed her long life to drinking Coca-Cola!
Here’s to Willie, celebrating 103 remarkable years–a life filled with joy, and memories!
Happy 103rd Birthday, Willie! Your story is a treasure and your light still shines bright.
