Juneteenth, officially recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, commemorates June 19, 1865—the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Both events aim to uplift the community while honoring the historical significance of Juneteenth. Community members are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and their families to take part in the celebration.
