On Thursday, June 13, Statesboro will host its first Regional Forestry Meeting of the year. The Georgia Forestry Association’s Regional Forestry Meetings are planned in locations across the state to bring together the entire forestry sector to discuss the most important issues for that region.

GFA facilitates these meetings through local advisory committees that include local GFA members, the Georgia Forestry Commission and the University of Georgia’s Cooperative Extension Service.

When: June 13, 2024 from 6-8pm
Where: The Market at Visit Statesboro (228 S. Main Street, Statesboro, GA 30458)
Topics: Recapping the 2024 Georgia Legislative Session and An Overview of Reforestation and Site Preparation

Landowners Invited

Today, more than 91 percent of the forested acres in Georgia are privately-owned, and the majority of landowners in the state are private, family landowners. GFA is focused on sustaining private landowners by advocating for the protection of their property and key management functions such as harvesting in compliance with Best Management Practices for Water Quality and the use of prescribed fire.

Topics for the Statesboro meeting include a recap of the legislative session and an overview of reforestation and site preparation.

“Regional Forestry Groups present a great opportunity for local communities to rally around forestry,” said GFA President & CEO Andres Villegas. “Statesboro is an important region for us, contributing to forestry’s $42 billion impact across Georgia. It’s because of places like Statesboro, that we’re the #1 Forestry State in the Nation.” How to attend: Registration is free, but you must click here to RSVP online to attend. Dinner will be provided for all attendees.
