The Statesboro Police Department is launching a new hands-on opportunity for local youth this summer with its inaugural Teen Police Academy, a one-week course designed to introduce teens to the world of law enforcement, forensics, and criminal justice.

Open to Bulloch County residents ages 14-17, the academy will run July 14-18, 2025, meeting three hours each day at the Statesboro Police Department. Participants will gain valuable, real-world insight into police work by training like actual officers, with interactive sessions and hands-on learning. Lunch will be provided each day.

The program aims to engage teens interested in careers in law enforcement while strengthening relationships between officers and the local community. Space is limited, and early application is encouraged.

The deadline to apply is June 18. Applications can be picked up and returned in person at the SPD lobby at 25 W. Grady Street between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Applicants can also request an emailed application by sending a direct message to SPD’s official social media pages.
