It's that time of year again to reduce your library fines while also giving back to the community! On February 1st, the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library began their annual Food For Fines canned food drive. The library will forgive overdue fines in exchange for donations of canned and packaged food for people and pets. Each item donated will equal $1 in fines forgiven on your account.

Caroline Johnson, Library Manager, says patrons can also bring in extra items to “pay it forward.”  She says, “ We hope that our library users will take advantage of this initiative to reduce fines and give back to the community."

The food donations will go to the Statesboro Food Bank, and pet food will go to The Humane Society of Statesboro & Bulloch County and to Fixing the Boro. The Food for Fines will run until the end of  the month.

The Statesboro-Bulloch County Library is part of Statesboro Regional Public Libraries (SRPL). This system consists of six libraries serving Bulloch, Bryan, Candler, Emanuel, and Evans counties. Each library in the system is collecting donations for Food for Fines.
