Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful (KSBB) and the Statesboro Service League (SSL) are teaming up to provide free container gardening workshops at the Statesboro Farmers Market.

“We are excited to provide Statesboro and Bulloch County residents with a way to learn basic gardening techniques that are free to the public,” said Ashley Sheffield, chair of the Statesboro Service League’s Environmental Committee. “We invite individuals of all ages to visit us at the Statesboro Farmers Market to make and take home their very own container garden.”

The complimentary workshops will begin on Aug. 12 and will be held every second Saturday of the month until November.

The workshops aim to expand garden education through hands-on experience of planting seeds and acquiring basic plant care techniques. Individuals can take home the item they plant at the workshop.

KSBB and SSL are hopeful that the individuals who participate in the mobile container gardening workshops will feel confident about their knowledge of gardening and the benefits of food sustainability.

If successful, KSBB and SSL will continue the workshops into the 2024 Statesboro Farmers Market season.

The Farmers Market is located at 222 S Main Street in Statesboro, behind the Statesboro Visitors and Convention Bureau.

The workshops will be available during the regular market operating hours of 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. during every second Saturday of the 2023 season starting in August.

Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation.
