Hendley Properties hosts blood drive to benefit local charities

The two drives, held at Greenbrier and Planters Row, were held to benefit Safe Haven and Choices of the Heart.

Hendley Properties held two blood drives on March 20 and 21 at its Greenbrier and Planters Row property locations.

The drive at Greenbrier was put on to raise money for Safe Haven Statesboro. For every successful donation during that drive, $20 was donated to Safe Haven Statesboro. With a total of 18 donations on the day of the drive, $360 was raised for Safe Haven Statesboro.

The drive at Planters Row was put on to raise money for Choices of the Heart Statesboro. Again, for every donation during the drive, $20 was given to Choices of the Heart. With a total of 17 successful donations during the drive $340 was raised for Choices of the heart.

“Every donation can save up to three lives, so a potential 105 lives were saved with these two drives. Eighty-eight percent of all donations at these drives came from Georgia Southern students. Only three percent of those eligible to donate, do donate,” said Ginny Hendley of  the family-owned Hendley Properties, which has been in operation in Statesboro since 1968.

Hendley partnered with the Blood Connection to host the events. The Blood Connection is also actively looking for hosts for its bloodmobile or to do an inside setup in mid-April through May at this time.
