The Georgia Southern Athletics Department and the Sun Belt Conference announced Friday the Eagles' 2023 football schedule. It is a slate that features five home Saturday games, a mid-week nationally televised home game, and four contests against teams that played in a bowl last year.

The Eagles will open the 2023 season with their four non-conference games, as they did last year. They start at home with a pair of games, hosting old SoCon rival The Citadel on Sept. 2 and then UAB on Sept. 9. The squad then takes to the road for a pair of games, first traveling to Wisconsin on Sept. 16, followed by a contest at Ball State on Sept. 23. Georgia Southern opens up Sun Belt play with a Sept. 30 game at home against defending East Division Co-Champion Coastal Carolina before heading into October.

The Eagles open October with a bye week before traveling to the other East Co-Champs in James Madison on Oct. 14. On Oct. 21, they host ULM before a Thursday night home contest with Georgia State on Oct. 26, just five days later. It marks the first time since 2020 the Eagles have had a home Thursday night game.

The final month of the regular season features three road games, first at Texas State on Nov. 4 before a trip to West Virginia to take on Marshall on Nov. 11. The final home game of the season comes on Nov. 18 as Southern hosts Old Dominion and then the Eagles travel to Boone to take on App State on Nov. 25 for the regular season finale.

The Sun Belt Conference Championship Game, which features the East and West Divisions winners, will play at a campus site on Dec. 2.

The overall slate features four teams that played in a bowl game: Coastal Carolina (Birmingham Bowl; SBC East co-champs), Marshall (Myrtle Beach Bowl champs), UAB (Bahamas Bowl champs), and Wisconsin (Guaranteed Rate Bowl champs).

Season ticket holders only have a few weeks to renew their season tickets and/or parking before the Mar. 31 renewal deadline. Renewals must be paid in full or set up on a payment plan by the renewal deadline, or they will be released to the general public.

Ticket holders can renew online at GSEagles.com/Renewals. Fans looking to purchase season tickets may pre-order new season ticket packages by visiting GSEagles.com/FootballTickets or by calling 1(800) GSU-WINS during business hours (Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.). They can also stop by the Ticket Office at 203 Lanier Drive. Season ticket packages start as low as $85/each for all six home games this season.

Times and broadcast information for all 12 games, as well as promotional days for the six home contests, will be announced at a later date. Due to broadcast rights with the league's television partners, dates and times are subject to change up to 12 days before kickoff.
