Georgia Southern University Police make arrest following gunfire incident on Armstrong Campus

Preliminary findings indicate the individuals involved are not enrolled students and were known to one another. A suspect has been taken into custody at an off campus location and charged with aggravated assault. Additional charges may follow, as the investigation remains active.

Georgia Southern University Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a gunfire incident that occurred in the Residential 1 parking lot on the Armstrong Campus during the evening hours of May 13, 2025.

The incident involved individuals who are not enrolled students. One person sustained injuries during the event and received medical attention. A shelter-in-place order was issued as a precaution while officers secured the scene and began their investigation. The order was lifted after officers determined there was no ongoing threat to the campus community.
