Davon and Tavon Woods of Foster Kids Matter held a one-mile walk on Saturday, August 26th, at 11am to raise awareness for their organization's message, while also walking in support of recovery for Georgia Kate Anderson and in memory of Kingston and Knowledge Bailey.
The walk's starting point was at the Kiwanis Fairground in Statesboro. Several Georgia Southern teams and local organizations showed up to walk the mile in support of the organization.

The event flyer invited locals to "come out and walk a mile for foster kids all around the world. This is a way to show these kids you care. Everyone is invited, so let's do it big for the kids. We also will be dedicating a mile for Georgia Kate."
"We do what we do because both me and Tavon were once in the foster care system, and we want to show foster kids all over the world that they matter and are cared for," Davon said. "We have been doing our walks for a year-and-a-half, and have been to more than 25 states, walking 20 miles in each state. Now, we are walking 10 miles in each state that we travel to. We do all of this for foster children everywhere to show them that we love them."
"Foster Kids Matter is an organization that me and Davon started because having been in the foster care system before, we wanted to raise more awareness for children in foster care to remind them that they matter and are loved," Tavon added.
