With the summer heat rising with every passing hour, Luetta Moore Park invites children to participate in free swimming lessons through June and July, allowing kids to not only have some splash-filled fun but also expanding their knowledge on water safety and swimming skills.
A total of eight lessons will be offered at Luetta Moore Park, taking place every Friday from 6 to 7pm throughout June and July, with the exception of Friday, July 4, 2025. Children ages 5-14 are welcome to participate and while parents will not be required to be in the water themselves, they will be required to be on deck during the lessons.
Parents are encouraged to sign up for all eight lessons, though flexible scheduling is available for those who may not be able to attend every week. Lessons begin on June 6; preregistration is required and can be completed here.

While these summer swimming lessons offer a fun and interactive way to cool off, they also address a serious concern: Drowning being one of the leading causes of death in children ages 1-14. Teaching kids to swim isn't just about summer fun—it's about equipping them with the tools they need to stay safe, calm and prepared in the water.
"I feel that swim lessons can truly change the outcome of someone's life," said Aquatics Program Supervisor Jenna Varner. "They give children a chance at survival that they may have not had before taking swim lessons."
This will mark the second year of swimming lessons at Luetta Moore Park—however, it will also be the first year that they have offered free swimming lessons. More information on their operations can be found here.
In addition to these free lessons, Luetta Moore Park will be participating in the World's Largest Swim Lesson on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6 to 7pm alongside Splash in the Boro, who will also be participating from noon to 2pm.
Luetta Moore Park invites everyone to join them as they attempt to break the world record!
"I would also like to show my gratitude to Alex Estrada (Aquatics Division Manager) and Dadrian 'Dee' Cosby (Director) for their support of this idea and giving me the opportunity to bring my vision to life," said Varner.
