Wendy Brannen will join the National Pork Producers Council as vice president of communications and marketing, beginning Monday, June 16. She will be based in NPPC’s Washington, D.C. public policy office.

"Wendy has unique depth and breadth of experience in many facets of communications and marketing — and she understands the importance of agriculture," NPPC CEO Bryan Humphreys said. "We are pleased that she will be using her expertise to serve and support U.S. pork producers."

Brannen has directed agriculture trade associations and their marketing and communications programs for 20 years, most recently as senior director of marketing and communications for the American Soybean Association. Brannen started at ASA in 2018 as director of policy communications before shifting to lead the marketing communications department in 2019.

While at ASA, she has led media relations and other communications initiatives during two trade wars, a pandemic and myriad policy matters including biotechnology, farm bill, transportation and infrastructure, pesticides, conservation, biofuels and, of course, trade.

Brannen grew up adjacent to her family’s row crop farm in rural Georgia. Her previous agriculture experience has been as executive director of the Vidalia Onion Committee, communications for the U.S. Apple Association, and she also served as executive director of the Lodi Winegrape Commission in California.
