In the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, Brooklet First Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Patrick McElveen, has stepped up to support those on the front lines of recovery. Pastor McElveen and a dedicated team from the church have been working tirelessly to provide hot meals and other critical needs to law enforcement, fire service personnel, and other essential workers who have been instrumental in minimizing the storm's damage.
On Thursday, the church welcomed over 100 first responders and key players to a delicious, home-cooked meal. The gathering was more than just a meal—it was a gesture of gratitude and solidarity with those who have been working around the clock to restore Bulloch County to its pre-Debby functionality.
In a Facebook post, the church urged the community to "Be the hands and feet of Jesus," inviting residents to join in serving those who have worked tirelessly to restore normalcy. The post calls on volunteers to provide food and other forms of nourishment for the county's first responders.
The church will host another Hurricane Debby relief event on Friday, August 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This ongoing effort is a testament to the church's commitment to serving the community in times of need.
"This is the body of Christ at BFBC coming together to serve the needs of others," says Paula McElveen, Pastor McElveen's wife. Her words reflect the church's mission to embody the teachings of Christ through acts of service.
