The 5th Annual Duck Race for action pact will make a splash on Friday, August 15, at Splash in the ‘Boro, with the fun kicking off at 10 am. The event will be broadcast live on the organization’s Facebook page, giving viewers a chance to watch the action from anywhere.
A total of 150 ducks will be available for adoption at $100 each, and participants will have four chances to win. The first-place duck will earn its owner $3,000, second place will win $1,000, third place will take home $500, and the last-place duck will have its $100 entry fee refunded.
Hosted by the local community action agency, the Duck Race is more than just a fun competition—it’s an opportunity to help strengthen the community and fight poverty. The agency serves a diverse range of individuals, including preschool and foster children, middle and high school students, families of all ages, people with disabilities, and senior citizens.
Funds raised from the Rubber Duck Race help bridge the gap between grant funding and the full scope of services the agency provides. Many grants require matching dollars from local sources and don’t always cover essential needs such as wheelchair ramps, adult diapers for seniors, and other critical resources for clients.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Bronze Level sponsors ($250) and Gold Level sponsors ($500) will each receive one duck in the race, while Platinum Level sponsors ($1,000) will receive two ducks.
action pact is a non-profit operating several programs including Early Head Start, Head Start, Pre-K, Weatherization, CASA, Senior Centers, Meals on Wheels, Educational Talent Search (Trio), Community Care (which helps seniors remain at home instead of moving to nursing homes), Food Banks, GA SHIP (GA-CARES), READY2Connect, and other community-based initiatives.
