The award is the highest honor the country of Ireland can give to a person who is a non-resident. Thirteen awards were announced worldwide, only two of which went to individuals based in the U.S. Keeley received the award in the business and economic development category for his development of Georgia Southern’s presence in Ireland and his facilitation of trade and investment opportunities between Georgia and Ireland.

Tegu on the loose highlights need to tag, register pet reptiles

Since last December, Nile monitors, African helmeted turtles, Chinese softshell turtles, Argentine black and white tegus, and Indian rock and Burmese pythons have been listed as wild animals in Georgia. The grace period for pet owners to tag their animals with a passive integrated transponder tag and then register them with DNR ends at midnight Dec. 3. DNR advises using a veterinarian to inject PIT tags.

Annual Energy Assistance program begins Dec. 1, 2023

Beginning Dec. 1, 2023, households in which all adult members are 65-or-older or all adult members are medically homebound may apply for a one-time Energy Assistance payment. All other low-income households may apply beginning Jan. 2, 2024, if funds are available.The program is federally funded and administered by Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
