TRAFFIC ALERT: Westside Road to close for work Feb. 12-13

Westside Road, from Stockyard Road to Veterans Memorial Parkway, will be closed to through traffic on February 12 and 13, weather permitting. Bulloch County will be replacing a deteriorated culvert under the roadway. Traffic will be detoured to Stockyard Road, Williams Road, and Veterans Parkway.

Bulloch County Schools will host its annual Employee Recruitment Fair for all job types on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, at Statesboro High School. Interested applicants for teaching and non-teaching positions are welcome. The district seeks to hire 200+ teachers and support staff.

Statesboro Mayor to Host Annual State of the City Address later this month

City of Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar will host the 2024 State of the City address on Tuesday, February 27, in the Emma Kelly Theater in Downtown Statesboro. In addition to the official address, the program will feature a presentation of the flags by the Statesboro High School JROTC Color Guard, musical performances and a Q&A session with the Mayor. The public is invited to attend.

Bulloch BOE approves Bernard Bodison to lead Mattie Lively Elementary

Bodison, who is new to Bulloch County Schools, has been serving as one of two assistant principals at Mattie Lively this school year. He has nearly 10 years of experience as an administrator at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He will begin serving as Mattie Lively principal on July 1.
