One airlifted to Memorial following crash on Fair Rd at Brampton Ave

Statesboro Police, Georgia Southern Police, and Bulloch County EMS responded to a crash around 9:00 AM Tuesday morning at the intersection of Fair Road and Brampton Avenue in Statesboro. Georgia State Patrol also responded and investigated the accident.

According to GSP, Cathy McKinney of Millen was air lifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah with "serious injuries". McKinney remains in "critical, but stable" condition according to hospital staff.

Daniel Smith of Millen, Mary Pender of Waynesboro, and Caroline Harris of Statesboro, were transported across the street to East Georgia Regional Medical Center for treatment. Officials at EGRMC were unable to comment on the status of these individuals at the time of this report.

GSP Trooper Holloway stated that a red Chevrolet HHR, driven by Smith, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by a silver Chevrolet Silverado driven by Harris. Both McKinney and Pender were passengers in the HHR. According to the GSP report, McKinney was in the back seat when the crash occurred. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
