Students in the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) recently delivered encouraging Valentine’s Day cards to clients at Brown's Health and Rehabilitation Center.

“One of the pillars of NTHS is giving back to our community,” said Lisa Lanier, Director for Library Services and NTHS Advisor. “Due to the hard work of our students, I had the pleasure of delivering cards and candy to clients at the center.”

In addition to the cards, Lanier delivered some snack items to place inside the nurses' break room to show appreciation for their service to the community. The students spent the first few weeks of February decorating and writing cards for the clients at Brown’s and ended up completing 68 cards for the center.

Chelsie Diaz, a member of NTHS and student in the Early Childhood Care and Education program at OTC, explained what motivates her to give back to her community.

“I often think ‘What if those were my parents?’ or 'What if that was my family?' I would want someone to take the time out of their day to make someone I love feel like they have someone who cares,” she said. “It makes me happy to see others happy, and I enjoy working with others who share the same kind of heart and passion that I have."
