The Summit, which will begin with a free breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by presentations from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., will be held in the Nessmith Lane Conference Center, on the campus of  Georgia Southern University.

The Career Workforce Development Plan, which was launched in October 2021, and presented to more than 100 elected officials, industry leaders, small business leaders, and educators who gathered at Ogeechee Technical College, is a collaborative product forged by representatives from the Bulloch County Development Authority, Ogeechee Technical College, Georgia Southern University, Bulloch County Schools and local business and industry.

During last year’s launch, leaders were provided with opportunities for feedback and ways to plug in to the plan of action to help ensure the work will be accomplished and sustained. One year later, the Summit will report about the Career Workforce Steering Committee’s progress, celebrate successes within Bulloch County Schools’ career education programs, including its designation by the state as a certified Economic Development Program, and continue to provide business and industry professionals ways to be involved.

A key highlight of the Summit will also be the anticipated reveal of the new Bulloch Career Ready Website. The website will be a key tool to assist families, youth and the community in preparing a successful education path to careers with Bulloch County’s businesses and industries.

The work of the Bulloch County Career Workforce Steering Committee is centered around the purpose of preparing students for successful careers and building an educated, skilled, and efficient workforce for continued economic growth in Bulloch County.

The Bulloch County Career Workforce Development Plan is focused on the three-pillar foundation model derived from the Georgia Department of Education’s vision for all students to graduate from high school prepared to be enrolled, enlisted, ir employed:

  • Enrolled - Preparing students for post-secondary academic success.
  • Enlisted - Preparing students for careers in the military.
  • Employed - Preparing students for work in local and regional business and industry.

There are three goals that encapsulate this work. Each goal has specific strategies and action steps that outline the specific work to be done to accomplish each goal.

Goals for Fiscal Year 2022 through 2025:

  • Goal # 1 - Sustain a collaborative for developing and monitoring continuous improvement of ongoing communitywide career workforce development strategies.
  • Goal # 2 - Implement an exemplary district-wide program for employability skills training, rigorous coursework, and authentic experiences for all Career Technical & Agricultural Education students.
  • Goal # 3 - Prepare all students enrolled in Bulloch County Schools to be career/workforce ready through enrollment, enlistment, or employment opportunities.
