Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council has teamed up with Fixing the Boro to bring Statesboro dog owners an unforgettable Christmas experience. For the first time ever, Santa Paws is coming to the Downtown Statesboro Dog Park this Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the event there will be a photo opportunity for your furry pals to get a picture with Santa and a paw print ornament voucher to use at Southern Pottery.

Santa Paws is a Fundraiser for the Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council’s Bulloch Game Changers Youth Action Team. Game Changers is the short name for the Youth Action Team. The Game Changers are a group of 12- to 18-year-old students who pledge to be substance free and work to influence their peers in a positive way to be substance free also. The Game Changers are students from Southeast Bulloch, Portal Middle High, and Statesboro High. Each member can attend community events, workshops, trainings, camps, and other drug-free social events.

All proceeds of the Santa Paws fundraiser will go to Game Changers and Fixing the Boro. The dogs that are available for adoption will also have their picture taken with Santa – free of charge.

Bulloch Alcohol and Drug Council has been serving Bulloch County for forty-eight years and is the only non-profit organization in the county that works to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth. Fixing the Boro has been serving Bulloch County since 2017 and their mission is to provide low-cost sterilization, rescue, and pet adoption opportunities to residents of Bulloch County.

"... this event will be a fun way for community members to get out and support the Game Changers and our mission to prevent substance use and work toward creating a Drug Free Community."

Belle Mathis - Bulloch Alcohol & Drug Council

Belle Mathis from BADC stated, “I believe this event will be a fun way for community members to get out and support the Game Changers and our mission to prevent substance use and work towards creating a Drug Free Community. The reason we chose to partner with Fixing the Boro is because the event is for dogs to get their picture with Santa – it only felt right to give back to the fur babies in need.”
