Bulloch History | Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoons

Thanks to McCook's Pharmacy for making Bulloch Tid Bit's, produced by the Bulloch County Historical Society, available on Grice Connect.

Thanks to McCook's Pharmacy for making the replay of the Bulloch Tid Bit's available on Grice Connect.

Collecting sterling silver souvenir spoons became a popular hobby in the late 1800’s when Americans began traveling en masse across Europe. They brought home these souvenirs marked with names of cities and landmarks they had visited. The highest prices paid today for these antiques contain black Americana images. These sell from $25 to $250. My most prized spoon is from Statesboro. I’ve never seen another one!

Bulloch Tidbits are a weekly feature written and narrated by the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) Executive Director Virginia Anne Franklin Waters.  Each week Virginia Anne takes Grice Connect readers onto a historical journey back in time saluting the people and places that have make Statesboro and Bulloch a wonderful place to call home.

Bulloch Tidbits on Grice Connect are made possible thanks to the generous support of McCook's Pharmacy a locally owned pharmacy located at 23630 US-80 in Statesboro.
