Bulloch History | Sorrier Insurance Agency, now BBWH Insurors

C. A. Sorrier opened Sorrier Insurance Agency in 1888 in downtown Statesboro. In 1986, Tom Ansley and Leonard Blount bought the agency and changed the name to Blount, Ansley & Sorrier. Now it is known as BBWH and is one of the largest insurance providers in our area. The Sorrier family came from Scotland. This family was one of the first to build in Statesboro’s first subdivision, which was Savannah Avenue. He was one of the original owners of the Jaeckel Hotel and had one of the first automobiles in Statesboro.

Bulloch Tidbits are a weekly feature written and narrated by the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) Executive Director Virginia Anne Franklin Waters.  Each week Virginia Anne takes Grice Connect readers onto a historical journey back in time saluting the people and places that have make Statesboro and Bulloch a wonderful place to call home.

Bulloch Tidbits on Grice Connect are made possible thanks to the generous support of McCook's Pharmacy a locally owned pharmacy located at 23630 US-80 in Statesboro.
