Duplin County in North Carolina is known for great wine. It is also the “home” of many Bulloch County residents. Surnames that came from Duplin County include: Alderman, Franklin, Parrish, Lanier, Hendrix, Smith, Watkins and Williamson. Let’s look at three letters from the early 1900’s from Statesboro merchants. These include: Statesboro Telephone Co., smith & Olliff and E.M. Anderson & Son.

Bulloch Tidbits are a weekly feature written and narrated by the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) Executive Director Virginia Anne Franklin Waters.  Each week Virginia Anne takes Grice Connect readers onto a historical journey back in time saluting the people and places that have make Statesboro and Bulloch a wonderful place to call home.

Bulloch Tidbits on Grice Connect are made possible thanks to the generous support of McCook's Pharmacy a locally owned pharmacy located at 23630 US-80 in Statesboro.
