The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets' softball team played the second leg of a back-to-back on Tuesday when they hosted the Jenkins Warriors. The Yellow Jackets were able to get back in the win column with a 14-2 win against Jenkins.

After going down early, Southeast Bulloch were able to put together 14 unanswered runs to end the game. Going into the 4th inning with an 11-2 lead, Southeast Bulloch put an early end to the game with runs by Maghan Newman, Trell Reed, and Paisley Nordeoff.

The Yellow Jackets put several pitches in the outfield, but their speed and aggression when on base allowed them to run up the score quickly. They were also the beneficiary of some unforced errors by Jenkins.

The third inning was the most electric for the Yellow Jackets as they finished with 5 runs to extend the lead to 11-2. Newman and Kayleigh Hickman scored on errors. Ella Rae Jerrigan reached home base on a sacrifice flyball. Marissa Waters sent a ball outside the fence for a 2-run homer that allowed Kristiana Tisby to make it home.

Even though control of the game was in Southeast Bulloch's hands, there was still some shaky play defensively. Head Coach Aimee Civalier got her team together on the field to refocus them. "I felt like we just were kind of losing a little focus, we weren't communicating," Civalier said. "It was just a time to get them out there and make sure that they are staying into every pitch and staying focused on the next one."

The Yellow Jackets were able to rebound from a loss they took on Monday to Wayne County on the road. They started out slow and allowed Jenkins to go up 2-0 at the top of the 1st. It was all SEB after that. "They did a good job, we didn't have a clean inning in the first when we gave up 2 runs," Civalier said. "We had good quality at-bats and took extra bases. It's a good bounce back after losing to Wayne."

Southeast Bulloch's record improves to 9-1 on the season with a 3-0 record in region.
