The Statesboro softball team had some sunshine before the storm came through when 3 seniors were acknowledged. Kate Yawn, Terrece Gibson, and Megan Hiers all played their last game at Mill Creek Park as members of the Statesboro Blue Devils' softball team. The Lady Devils were able to come away with a sweep of the doubleheader played on Wednesday, September 25th.
The Statesboro seniors also recognized and honored the seniors for Bradwell Institiute. The seniors gifted their opponents during their opponents roses. Emotions were running high as teammates hugged and embraced each other.
Head Coach Karry Parker spoke on the impact of the seniors." Each of them has been an extension of the coaching staff this season," Parker said. "Anytime a coaching staff changes, it impacts a program. The change this year have impacted what the seniors knew and expected for their senior year. All three have handled it with hard work and positive attitudes."
Yawn, Gibson, and Hiers played together all through high school and even were on the same team back in Middle School at William James. "These three are special becasue of the bond they shate," Parker said. "They have played together for so long and love each other's families, on and off the field."
The Lady Devils took care of business against the Tigers and swept them in the doubleheader. Statesboro won both games with final scores of 16-1 and 13-5. Staatesboro now sits with a 10-10 record on the season.

Statesboro is going to have long break before their next game. The Lady Devils will go on the road to take on Screven County on October 8th. This will be Statesboro's second to last game.
