Statesboro High Senior Alyssa Staten Voted as Georgia Basketball Player of the Week

Staten is averaging 16 points and 14 rebounds on an efficient 50% from the field. Next, she is looking to lead her team to a region championship.

Statesboro High senior Alyssa Staten won Georgia Girls High School Player of the Week for her performances against Ware County on January 30th, and Bradwell Institute on February 3rd. Staten averaged 19 points and 16 rebounds over the two games. The week was highlighted by a dominant 23-point and 20-rebound game against Bradwell Institute. 

Staten has been the anchor of her team defensively and an unstoppable force on the offensive end all season long. Her play has led to her being recognized by fans to win SBLive's Georgia Girls Player of the Week. SBLive releases up to 11 finalists for the award and allows fans to go in and vote for who they believe should win it. Staten ran away with the award by receiving 68% of the votes. 

Winning Georgia Girls Player of the Week concludes an exciting week for Staten. On Wednesday February 8th, she signed a letter of intent to play collegiate basketball at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
