The matchups for the second leg of the MAC/SBC Challenge for Georgia Southern men's and women's basketball, which will be played on Saturday, Feb. 10, were announced yesterday by league officials.
Georgia Southern men's basketball will host the University at Buffalo at 3 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse, while women's basketball will travel to Northern Illinois University to play a 2 p.m. game against the Huskies.
This is the first year of the MAC/SBC challenge - a scheduling alliance between the two leagues. Earlier this year in the first leg, Georgia Southern women's basketball defeated Eastern Michigan, 82-58, while men's basketball fell at Eastern Michigan, 70-60.
The women's matchup against NIU will be the second in as many years - last year in the WBI, Georgia Southern earned its first national postseason win with a 69-58 victory in Lexington, Kentucky.
Men's basketball faces Buffalo for the third time in school history. The Bulls have won both previous matchups, the last one coming in a neutral site contest on December 30, 1996 in Toledo, Ohio, a 63-61 win for Buffalo.
Tickets for the men's game were included in the season ticket package. Single-game tickets may be purchased at GSEagles.com/Tickets.
