Georgia Southern men's basketball saw its offense dry up in the second half of the Coastal Empire Eagle Classic at Enmarket Arena, losing 53-42 to Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday.

"They made defensive adjustments at halftime and disrupted us," head coach Charlie Henry said. "We have to figure out how to respond in those situations."

GS (0-12) led at the halftime break for the second time this season, but FGCU (4-9) did just enough to take the game from the designated home team.

Eren Banks scored the Eagles' first nine points in the first half as part of a 14-5 run, however, FGCU battled back to tie things at 17 by the under-eight media timeout.

The Eagles scored just seven more points in the final seven minutes of the stanza, but still led 24-23 at halftime.

A 10-0 run for FGCU to start the second half was enough to push them for the remainder of the game. The Eagles went 7-25 overall and 2-12 from three-point land, getting outscored 30-18 in the second.

Banks' 16 were a new career-best, the only Eagle to reach double figures in the contest. Tyren Moore had four points, four rebounds and four assists in the game.

Georgia Southern will regroup on an 11-day break before hosting Southern Miss to open conference play on Dec. 30.
