Eagle swimmers split weekend events against UNC Asheville

Georgia Southern Swimming and Diving defeated UNC Asheville in the diving portion of the competition this past weekend.

The Georgia Southern swimming and diving team competed against the UNC Asheville Bulldogs from Friday, Dec. 15 to Saturday, Dec. 16, coming away with a victory over the Bulldogs in the diving portion of the weekend.

Friday's diving portion saw Karlee Wells win both 1M diving events, winning the first dive with a score of 248.03 and winning the second dive with a score of 259.20. In the first event, Abby Ounsworth finished in third place with a score of 234.45, just over two points away from the second place finisher. In the second event, McKinlee Taulbee finished with a score of 229.28, with senior Anya Weber finishing both events in fourth place with scores of 228.53 and 228.98. The Eagles came away with a 28-10 victory in the diving portion of the meet.

In the swimming portion on Saturday, junior Zuri Clavo finished the Women's 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:45.00, and freshman Chiara Alberti finished the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:55.51. The third top finish that the Eagles had was Clavo in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle, where she topped the board with a 5:16.13 finish. Other high finishes from the Eagles included a 59.72 finish from Emma Scruggs in the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, as well as another second place finish from Scruggs in the Women's 200 Yard Backstroke.
