Bulloch County students recognized for essays on racial injustice

On July 23, the community gathered for an awards ceremony and reception honoring seven high school students from Bulloch County. These students had impressed judges from the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) with their essays on racial injustice. The event was held at the Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center’s pavilion and awarded the winning writers cash prizes totaling $5,000.

Techie Camp at Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center continues to grow

The Willow Hill Heritage and Renaissance Center is about to wrap up its annual Techie Camp -- with record-breaking enrollment. The six-week program expanded this year to welcome students from 3rd to 8th grade, with enrollment skyrocketing from 25 to a whopping 240 campers! The program is looking to expand even more next year, carrying on the legacy of Dr. Gayle Jackson, who was instrumental in founding the camp.
