Thomas Allen “Billy” Williams, Jr., 87, of Sylvania passed at the Pineview Health and Rehabilitation Center on Friday morning, May 26, 2023.
A native of Screven County he was raised on the family farm to Thomas Allen, Sr. and Janie DuBose Williams. He was reared in the Double Heads Church, where later he served as a deacon. While he attended Screven County High School he enlisted in the Georgia National Guard, where he would serve for 40 years. Upon graduation, he began employment with the Sylvania Telephone as printer. He would later be employed with Georgia Southern University and Plant Vogtle as a warehouseman. He was very active on his farm where he raised cattle, hogs, and specialized in goats. He later became a member of Douglas Branch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ethel Mae Williams Dickey, Barney Loyd Williams, Sylvester Williams, James Marion Williams, Freddie Thomas Williams, Donald Williams, Welbon Bland, and Betty McBride; and a sister-in-law, Judy Williams.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Marjorie Williams; and a brother, Charles Williams.
Graveside services will be held at the Screven Memorial Cemetery on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 2:00pm with Justin Brannen and Rev. Wayne Powell officiating. The family will receive friends a half hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow with military honors.
