November 12, 1960 - September 3, 2023 - Mr. Stephen Craig Lariscy, 62, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 at his home in Sylvania, GA.
Craig was born in Sylvania, GA, to the late Wilbur and Katie Reid Lariscy on November 12, 1960. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania and had regularly attended in his youth.
At an early age he worked at the WSYL radio station where he sold and developed local broadcast accounts and was a local personality DJ. This was the start of his career in advertising. He was an alumni of Screven County High School, Class of 1979 and graduated Cum Laude in 1984 from the University of Georgia, where he obtained an Bachelors of Arts in Journalism.
Craig moved to New York City to work in marketing and advertising. His first 3 years were at the Ayer Advertising Agency in media planning and negotiations. His next 6 years were spent as Advertising Sales and Marketing Account Executive at Turner Broadcasting’s CNN. For a decade, Craig served as Senior Advertising Sales and Marketing Account Executive at E! Entertainment Television.
Upon returning home from New York, he joined his father in running the family business, Lariscy Furniture. Having been raised in a “furniture industry family” Craig grew up acquiring a unique perspective on what makes a house a home and with his unique professional background in marketing, advertising, sales and negotiations, paired with his skills in communication, negotiations, client relationships and out-going personality and passion, he pursued a new career as a Realtor. His pursuits led him acquiring his license and a position as Realtor Partner with Georgia Real Estate and Management Company, LLC. There he thrived in showing clients the best that the CSRA and Low Country had to offer.
Craig was an enthusiastic and active member of the community. In 2015, he served as President of the Screven County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the prestigious Agnes Tebeau Volunteer of the Year Award. In 2016, he was voted a lifetime board member of the Screven County Chamber of Commerce. In 2017 he was elected to the position of City Council for the city of Sylvania, GA, where he served until his passing.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy Lariscy, brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn (Cathy) Lariscy and Charles (Pam) Lariscy, his beloved rescue fur babies, Peyton, Lulu, and Reese, as well as numerous other family and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
