Sandra Bazemore Brannen

Sandra Bazemore Brannen, 84, of Sylvania passed Sunday morning, July 23, 2023 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.

She was born on the Bazemore Family Farm to Ernest Hamilton, Sr. and Helen Blackburn Bazemore and had attended the Screven County Schools. In her youth she enjoyed riding horses and participating in the Screven County Livestock Pageants. She wed the love of her life, Roger Curtis Brannen out of high school and they resided in Brunswick, Augusta, and returned to his family farm in the early 1960’s. She enjoyed participating in women’s league softball and later sponsoring B&B softball team.

Throughout the years her employment included the Town House restaurant, JD Johnson Plumbing and Electrical, manager of Dr. Thurmond’s medical practice and those that proceeded and transitioned into the billing director for the ER of Optim Medical Center Screven, formerly Screven County Hospital, there she worked until her retirement at the age of 78. She was a charter member of the Farmdale Baptist Church, enjoyed painting and vacationing at the beach. Some of her best memories were the Saturdays spent at the family landing of Halcyondale at the Ogeechee River, pool parties at the house on Millen Highway and she and Curtis return to the Brannen Farm to reside to be closer to family.

She will be remembered for her servant’s heart, a gracious host, and the binding that held her family together. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years Roger Curtis Brannen daughter, Tammy Michelle Brannen Smith; sister-in-law and brothers-in- law, Terri B. and Robert Chadwick, Robert B. Bazemore, Johnny M. Bazemore, and Ernest H. Bazemore, Jr., father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph Morgan and Exie Mae Oliver Brannen; and a niece, Sandy Bazemore Cryder.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Cindy Brannen of Sylvania; son-in-law, David Smith of Dublin; grandsons, Justin Brannen of Sylvania, Dylan B. (Harley) Smith of Dublin; great-grandson, Case David Smith; great great-granddaughter, Raley Michelle Smith; sister-in-law, Vera P. Bazemore of Sylvania, and nieces and nephews, Rob and Lauren Bazemore, Shannon and Bryan Sowell, Michael Bazemore, Todd and Kellianne Bazemore, Jason and Gohar Bazemore, Rick and Leah Chadwick, and Matthew Chadwick.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Farmdale Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Edenfield and Rev. Chris Priest officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Interment will follow in the Farmdale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rick Chadwick, Matthew Chadwick, Rob Bazemore, Jason Bazemore, Matthew Waters, Aidan Sowell, Bryan Sowell, and Lowell Hagan.
